Marlborough Golf Club in Wiltshire near the M4 and Swindon

FAQ's

Why is it better to join a members’ golf club, rather than a proprietary club or simply pay and play?
Marlborough GC is run by its members for the benefit of its members and their needs come first.

Will I have a problem getting games at short-notice or without pre-booking?
Marlborough is unusual in the area in not having starting times (except for a few major competitions). This means you can simply turn-up, with or without pre-arranged partners and be almost certain of a game.

How often will I have to put up with temporary greens and mats?
The chalk of the Marlborough Downs drains superbly which means we are nearly always playing from proper tees to normal greens – and we are able to stay open when others around us are waterlogged.

I’m thinking of joining, and would like to try the course first – without having to pay. Is that possible?
Come and pay a ‘virtual’ green fee. That does not mean it’s free – but any green fees paid in the 3 months before you join will be credited against your joining fee.

I’m new to the area and don’t really know anyone to play with?
You’ll meet several other new members at our ‘new members’ evenings’, and a ‘sponsor’ will ensure your introduction to others of your standard who play at a time convenient to you.

I’ve never played before but would like to. How can I go about starting the game?
Ring our General Manager, Les Trute, to learn about our beginners’ packages – memberships and lessons at a discounted price.

Are Ladies welcome? And Junior’s too?
We encourage both and currently have over 100 Lady and over 90 Junior members. Whilst we are all equal members of one club our Ladies and Juniors run their own thriving sections.

How soon could I become a member?
Ring Les Trute at Marlborough Golf Club 01672 512147 or e-mail him at gm@marlboroughgolfclub.co.uk and you could be a member within a few days.

Are Corporate memberships available too?
Yes. Ring Les Trute and arrange to meet him so that we can tailor a package to meet your requirements.
