Staying Locally

Marlborough Golf Club welcomes visitors all year round. The Club does not operate a tee-time booking system so, except when there are restrictions for societies and club competitions, visitors are likely to be able to start at any time, check the Club Diary for tee closures.

Arrival

There is plenty of free parking available at the club.  When you arrive please book in at the pro-shop just inside the entrance. You will need a code for the men’s changing rooms: ask in the office or the pro-shop.  There are practice facilities behind the clubhouse and a net by the car park

Club House

The full dress code can be found here and in summary we ask that visitors wear smart casual in the bar, golf wear is fine except for golf shoes and wet weather gear. We don’t like sleeveless and sloganned T-shirts, caps and golf hats.

Please step outside the bar if using a mobile phone

There are changing rooms, showers and toilets for men and ladies on the ground floor, bring your own towel.  There are lockers in the changing rooms.

No golf clubs, equipment or clothing should be left in the foyer or in the upper rooms of the clubhouse

On the Course

On the golf course we ask for in smart golf clothing: tailored shorts may be worn with sports socks and shirts should have collars unless specifically designed for golf. Shirts should always be tucked in.  Golf shoes must be worn on the course at all times.

Jeans are not permitted on the golf course; research has shown jeans add up to five shots to your round – and they are scruffy.

No mobile phones except in an emergency; there really is an off button on mobile phones.

Visitors play at their own risk and should be insured.

Holes 8 to 18 are on common land so beware of people walking their dogs; the safety of the general public is paramount

Know the rules of golf: you can more infromation here.

Display your visitors’ tag that you receive from the pro-shop

Allow  matches through who are playing the 18th or 9th respectively if all the players in the match have reached the green, after that alternate starts

Repair your pitch marks, replace your divots, rake the bunkers and avoid slow play; it helps the golfing experience

Call the game behind through if you are making them wait.

Most important of all, enjoy yourself!
