Why is it better to join a members’ golf club, rather than a proprietary club or simply pay and play?

Marlborough Golf Club is run by its members for the benefit of its members and their needs come first. We are non-profit making with any surplus reinvested for the benefit of the Club.

How often will I have to put up with temporary greens and mats?

We have two distinctive nine-holes, with the back nine which lays on chalk, and the front nine on a clay cap set on the Marlborough Downs. In general, the golf course drains very well. However, the front nine, being of a parkland style on a clay cap, can struggle when we receive a large amount of rainfall. 

I’m new to the area and don’t know anyone to play with.

We pride ourselves on being an extremely warm and friendly club. We have an innovative committee which focuses on aspects to include the new member's journey, integration, social scene, and every aspect of helping new members find golfing buddies to play with.

I’ve never played before but would like to. How can I go about starting the game?

We have put together a great pathway into membership to guide you through the various stages, from initial lessons to purchasing the right golf equipment and joining the club. Check out our Pathway on the get into golf page of our site.

What tee time system do we currently operate?

We currently operate a hybrid tee time system, which offers a balance between being able to turn up and play, and bookable tee times to guarantee your slot.

Are Ladies and Juniors welcome? 

We encourage both and currently have over 80 ladies and over 30 junior members.

Whilst we are all equal members of one club, our ladies and juniors run their thriving sections.

Can I pay my fees in monthly instalments?

Yes, we can arrange to take your fees by monthly direct debit. 

How soon could I become a member?

You could become a member within a few days provided we have availability. 

Where do your members come from?

Our members come from wide and far including Swindon, Hungerford, Pewsey, Calne, Royal Wooton Basset and Devizes. In fact, we have a member from most locations around the Wiltshire area.
